The New York Jets have released punter Thomas Morstead as the overhaul of the team's roster this offseason rolls on.
Morstead, 39, has spent the past two season as the Jets' punter. The team announced the roster move on Tuesday:
Head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey have begun turning a page during this first offseason in charge of the Jets.
More notably, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Davante Adams were let go this offseason.
Morstead more represents a youth shift on New York's roster. Following his departure, the Jets only have three players over the age of 30 now (Greg Zuerlein, Tyrod Taylor, Thomas Hennessy, Josh Reynolds and Allen Lazard).
In releasing Morstead, the Jets have cleared $2.55 million in salary cap space.
Jets Wire will continue to provide updates throughout the 2025 offseason.
