Jets' 'Ideal' Draft Pick Revealed

The New York Jets will enter the NFL Draft with the offensive side of the ball likely to get the most attention in round one.

With a need to give Justin Fields more weapons, with either a receiver or tight end, coupled with the increasing momentum for offensive line help, the Jets have seemingly narrowed their picks down to two positions.

But what if we lived in an ideal world and the Jets' perfect pick landed in their lap?

Who would that be? For Bleacher Report's Moe Moton, it is Missouri lineman Armand Membou.

"You can make a valid case for the New York Jets to take their highest-graded tight end with the No. 7 pick," Moton writes. "However, there's a stronger case for Armand Membou in this spot.

"Membou would help protect quarterback Justin Fields as he tries to reinvent himself with his third team and open up lanes for the Jets' ground game, which racked up the second-fewest yards last season."

The selection of Membou won't get Jets fans as excited as a Tyler Warren, but he might be an important pick to give Fields ample protection.

The only downside is that the Jets, by selecting Membou, leave Fields with a worrying lack of weapons. Yes, he might be better protected by his offensive line with Membou at right tackle, but he will only have Garrett Wilson to throw to.

Is that problematic? Potentially, but given the Jets' desire to run the ball under Tanner Engstrand, they might not consider it a worry. Offensive line is a need, but should the  Jets use a premium pick on the position or get Fields a proper star to help put up points with?

Luckily, we don't have too long to wait to find out.
