Jets' Offensive 'Triplets' Have A Lot Of 'Volatility' Entering 2025

The New York Jets' offense under Tanner Engstrand is going to be a fascinating watch, with the unit's top players under a little pressure to prove they can be the key pillars to be counted on for head coach Aaron Glenn.

Justin Fields comes to the Big Apple looking to capitalize on his physical gifts and prove he's a starting-caliber quarterback. Breece Hall is in a contract year, and after having his name mentioned as trade bait, he needs a big year to stick around.

As for Garrett Wilson, he needs that big season where he firmly announces himself to the league as a legitimate top-liner despite three straight 1,000-yard seasons.

For CBS Sports' Jared Dubin, in ranking all offenses' top triplets, New York's of Wilson, Fields, and Hall come in at No. 23.

"The Jets had the second-highest variance in their rankings of any team in the league, which I think makes sense given the volatility of the players involved," Dubin writes. "Fields obviously has a very high ceiling and a very low floor, given his explosive rushing ability and inconsistent passing.

"Hall has at times looked like one of the very best backs in the league, but he struggled last year to the tune of 4.2 yards per carry, and his average has gone down with each passing season. The recently-rich Wilson, though, just keeps racking up 1,000-yard seasons despite … questionable-at-best QB play."

In reality, there are question marks over Fields and Hall rather than Wilson, with most expecting a big, breakout year from Garrett.

But can Fields demonstrate his ability to be a consistent passer? Engstrand's offense will be run-first, similar to his time with the Detroit Lions, but Fields has to show that when called upon, he can deliver strikes through the air.

When it comes to Hall, the potential is there, and he has even stated that it now needs to morph into something substantial. For all of Hall's talent, he's yet to post a 1,000-yard rushing season.

There is volatility in this offensive trio, but if all can deliver consistent, high-level production in 2025, come this time next year, they'll be far higher up this list.
