Jets Provide ‘Astounding’ Scouting Report on Rookie

The 2024 draft class for the New York Jets was widely celebrated following the weekend selection process.

Even amid a lost season, there's still plenty to love from that group overall. Whether it's Olu Fashanu's start at left tackle or the combination of Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis on the ground, the Jets have to be pleased with what most of the class has looked like so far.

In last week's game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, the team got a chance to see another rookie in action as well.

Is it time for the Jets to focus on 2018?

Due to injuries to cornerbacks D.J. Reed and Brandin Echols, New York had to turn to fifth-round rookie Qwan'tez Stiggers. The former CFL standout recorded five tackles in the 32-25 win while being targeted a lot by Mac Jones and the Jaguars offense.

"A little bit of a mixed bag in that way, but there were moments of some really cool stuff, especially from a young guy like Stiggers who's just learning football on the run and to be where he's at for a guy that played zero college football and comes where he's come from, it's pretty astounding," Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich said in a sort of scouting report.

"It's going to be fun watching him grow as a player and as a man in this game."

Stiggers was a standout during training camp and even was seen as a developmental corner when the Jets drafted him last April.

As he gets further playing time, though, he'll learn more from his first NFL start.

And who knows, maybe New York truly found a diamond in the rough for their secondary again.
