Jets Set to Face Former Starting QB Against Colts

The New York Jets season will be on the line when they face the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday.

Although the Jets' playoff chances are already slim at 3-7, a loss to the Colts, who are also in the hunt for a playoff spot at 4-6, would likely put any playoff hopes to rest.

One interesting storyline for the Jets on Sunday is that they'll be playing against a familiar face at quarterback. On Monday, Indianapolis coach Shane Steichen announced that Joe Flacco will remain the team's starter "until I say otherwise."

Flacco started multiple games for the Jets in recent years. In 2020, he started four games for New York and finished the season with 864 passing yards, six touchdowns and three interceptions. After signing with the Philadelphia Eagles in the following offseason, he was traded back over to New York a few weeks into the season.

He started five more games and appeared in seven total games for the Jets throughout the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In those games, he totaled 1,359 yards, eight touchdowns and three interceptions.

Flacco has appeared in five games for the Colts this season and has been their full-time starter after they decided to bench sophomore Anthony Richardson. He threw three interceptions last week, his worst performance of the season.

The Jets hope to get that version of Flacco on Sunday in a game they need to have. However, even if Flacco doesn't play well, New York will likely need their offense to show up, which they haven't been able to count on this season.
