The New York Jets under new offensive coordinator Tanner Engstrand and Justin Fields will be somewhat of an unknown in 2025.
With a clear culture shift, and an offense that has a new quarterback and not many weapons, there aren't too many who are bullish on what the Jets could be under Aaron Glenn in his first season as head coach.
But given the players on the roster, there is a clear direction, and it involves Fields, who is looking to kickstart his career, taking a backseat.
For Bleacher Report, which ranks the Jets offense at No. 30 out of 32 teams, the offense has to go in one direction.
"With Justin Fields given a clear runway as the starting quarterback, the path should be obvious. But everyone needs to see the Jets commit to a run-based offense," Bleacher Report writes. "With a loaded backfield that includes Breece Hall, Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis, the Jets have the talent to feature a ground-and-pound scheme, especially with an offensive line that now looks complete after Armand Membou's selection with this year's seventh overall draft pick.
"As long as Fields can get the ball to wide receiver Garrett Wilson with some regularity, this unit has surprising upside. It falls upon the quarterback to prove he can be the caliber of starter he always saw himself as."
That is an easy assumption given Hall and Allen as the one-two combination behind Fields, not to mention Justin's ability to run as well.
Plus, having a run-first offense takes the pressure off Fields to throw the team to wins, which, as we know, he struggles with.
So the plan of attack seems simple enough. Lean on Hall and Allen, and throw in Garrett Wilson every now and then to keep the defense honest.
It seems simple, but nothing in the NFL is ever as easy as that. But if the Jets can get some resemblance of a run game in 2025, we imagine they will be moving up this offensive rankings list rather quickly.
