Joe Sugg opened up about his introduction to the Australian dancer on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing, drawing comparisons with a more traditional method for couples to meet

Joe Sugg once referred to Dianne Buswell as "my wife" as she quizzed him on whether he had an engagement ring in his pocket. In an episode of the In Sickness and in Health podcast with James and Clair Buckley, YouTuber Joe opened up about his introduction to the Australian dancer on BBC's Strictly Come Dancing.
Joe and Dianne's romance ignited on the 16th series of Strictly, with the pair announcing they were an item on Instagram shortly after the Grand Final (in which they competed but sadly lost).
During the series, Dianne split up with her partner at the time, Emmerdale's Anthony Quinlan. However, after the show had ended, Joe wrote that he may not have won the trophy, but he'd "won something a million times more special".
Since then, the celebrity couple have moved in together and even bought their first home in February 2021, with reports that their fans are keen for Joe to take the plunge and pop the question.
Speaking in the podcast last year about their fateful meeting on the BBC dance competition, Joe detailed how he'd appeared in the genealogy series, 'Who Do You Think You Are?'

He said it was "nice" to discover how his grandparents and great-grandparents met, prompting Joe to draw comparisons between a traditional method for couples to meet and his own encounter with Dianne.
He continued: "Back in the old days, it was all through like dances, and they'd get up and go, 'May I have this dance?' That kind of thing. So like, technically, I can say I met my...my erm..."
At this point, a voice could be heard interjecting, asking if he meant to say his wife, as he added "partner". However, Dianne had also chimed in, saying: "Oh, you're dead! Have you got a ring in your pocket now?"
Joe added: "In the future, it will be like, 'Oh, I met my wife through dancing, technically, and you can watch the moment we met'. It's gonna be really weird. You can like watch the moment that we met, I guess, on camera'."

It wouldn't be the first time that Dianne has dropped a massive public hint that she wants her other half to go down on one knee, however, saying something similar on her own podcast.
Speaking on an episode of Winning Isn't Everything, which she co-hosts with Strictly star Chris McCausland, she gestured to her ring finger, saying: "What's that one, your best friend finger?"
Amusingly, Chris described it as the finger that "Joe's done nothing with". Dianne followed up by saying "exactly" and that they need to remind Joe "what that finger holds".
She added: "That finger is feeling very lonely, it needs something to weigh it down with."
