John Foster, a Louisiana native and LSU biology student, isnât just chasing a music dream â heâs driven by purpose. His goal? To become a âsinging oncologistâ and use music and medicine to bring healing to cancer patients.
During his first audition on American Idol, Foster impressed judges not only with his smooth vocals but also with his sincerity and charm. His rendition of a Conway Twitty classic earned praise, and although Luke Bryan initially gave him a âno,â Johnâs Southern personality and infectious energy won him over â and ultimately earned him a Golden Ticket to Hollywood.

After advancing to the Top 24, Foster traveled to Hawaii, where he performed a high-energy cover of âCallinâ Baton Rougeâ â a song made famous by The Oak Ridge Boys and later covered by Garth Brooks.
His performance celebrated his Louisiana roots, getting the judges dancing and the crowd on their feet.
