John Tortorella may be out of a job for now, but that doesn't mean he is necessarily done coaching.

After being fired by the Philadelphia Flyers toward the end of the 2024-25 season, Tortorella reportedly has been eager to get another coaching gig.

“By the way, John Tortorella said he wants to coach again because he’s got energy, he loves teaching,” John Davidson said in April.

There were rumblings that Tortorella was bound to join Mike Sullivan’s staff as an assistant coach with the New York Rangers, but that speculation was quickly shot down.

Practically all of the head coaching vacancies in the NHL have already been filled aside from the Pittsburgh Penguins, so it appears as if Tortorella will be forced to take an assistant coaching job or sit out this upcoming season in hopes of landing a head coaching position in the future.
