Drake Hogestyn's passing of pancreatic cancer last September, left us all shocked and heartbroken. John Black has been such an inseparable part of Days of Our Lives for decades that imagining a show without him has been virtually impossible. And while we've had time to say goodbye to Hogestyn, we're only just now beginning that same process for John onscree.
Offscreen, Martha Madison (Belle) and Eric Martsolf (Brady) are coming together to honor their TV dad in an especially touching way - by doing their part to make sure that someday pancreatic cancer will be a thing of the past. The actors took to Instagram to share that the Black siblings "have joined forces to co-chair our first-ever Hogey's Home Runners team for the PanCAN PurpleStride Walk in Santa Monica on April 26th!"
They're coming together, "In honor of our TV Dad and Days of Our Lives' most iconic hero, Drake Hogestyn , Eric and I are committed to walking toward a future without Pancreatic Cancer… and we want you to come along! So, consider this your personal invitation to join our team and walk with us (and many other familiar faces) on Saturday, April 26th at the Santa Monica Pier."
Of course, while that was the plan, there has been a bit of a change! The co-captains kids joined Alan Locher for his Locher Room podcast to share that Martsolf isn't "going to be there physically for the walk, unfortunately, and Martha has hit me in the face for." He kids, he kids, but as Brady's portrayer said, he ended up being so eager to make this happen, he didn't check to see that he also had a show scheduled with the Day Players! But no worries, because he's still co-chairing the team, and Dan Feuerriegel (EJ) has stepped in to join Madison on April 26th itself.
We suppose Belle and EJ really aren't as over as we thought after all! And you can expect many more familiar faces. Tina Huang (Melinda) shared that she's joined Team Hogey's Home Runners, and Stephen Nichols (Steve) and Kennedy Garcia (Felicity) both jumped into the comments of Madison and Martsolf's PurpleStride post to let everyone know they'd be walking with the team on April 26th.
