Josh Allen has spent his entire seven-year NFL career with the Buffalo Bills. After coming to agreement with the Bills on a six-year, $330 million deal that includes a record-setting $250 million in guaranteed money, Allen is scheduled to call Buffalo home through the 2030-31 season.
The 28-year-old's record-setting deal comes after his best statistical season when he earned his first NFL MVP award. During the 2024 season, Allen threw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns with just six interceptions. He also recorded 531 yards on the ground and 12 rushing touchdowns. He also helped lead the Bills to their second AFC Championship appearance since 2020.
Allen has been one of the winningest quarterbacks in the NFL since entering the league. Since 2018, only Patrick Mahomes (89) has won more regular season games than Allen (76).
During a sit down interview with NFL Films, Allen pealed back the curtain on his pregame routine, that often includes his Bills teammates.
"I throw up before every game...It's really weird, I think going back to college when I played I always had this mucus. I threw up before a Detroit game two years ago preseason, and throughout the game I didn't have mucus, so I was like I might have to start doing that," Allen told Charissa Thompson.
That's when Allen's bizarre pregame routine was born, and now it has become part of his warmup before every game.
"So after every pregame warmup, I go inside, and teammates will watch me and they'll cheer me on, Allen said."
His teammates often cheer him, "Get it out, Josh. Get the demons out!"
Some of his teammates have gone from cheering him on, to including "throwing up" in their own pregame rituals.
"I've got a couple other guys who throw up as well," Allen said.
Since entering the league, Allen has the most wins (76), total touchdowns (262), and total yards (30,595) by any player all-time in their first seven seasons. There's no proof Allen's pregame routine has a direct impact on winning, but it appears to make Allen more comfortable at kick-off of each and every one of his NFL games.
