Ever since Julianne Hough first appeared as a professional dancer on Dancing With the Stars in season 4, her roles on the show have varied over the years. Well, she's now talking about her first job on DWTS ... and if she's ever thought about doing something different for future seasons.
As more clues drop about the upcoming season 34 airing in the fall of 2025, fans of the ABC competition series already got news of Robert Irwin heading to the ballroom as the first celebrity this go-around. And while the other famous faces joining season 34 are being kept under wraps, so are the names of the pros who will help the stars throughout the show.
With this in mind, some fans have been wondering if Julianne (who's currently a co-host on DWTS) would ever consider returning to the series as a pro dancer. After all, she won the Mirrorball Trophy with Apolo Anton Ohno and Helio Castroneves in seasons 4 and 5 respectively! But as she shared with TV Insider in April 2025, she isn't too keen on both hosting and competing on Dancing with the Stars at the same time.

"I don’t know how I could do both," she told the outlet. "Maybe that just means more dance [performances for me]."
Despite Julianne not necessarily wanting to bounce around between jobs for season 34, she did express one thing she loves about her current role.
"I will say I love working with [co-host] Alfonso [Ribeiro]," she added. "Not many hosts on TV shows get to host, perform, and interact with the competitors the way we get to. I feel like Alfonso and I are a winning duo."
As fans know, Julianne and Alfonso both have dancing histories with Dancing With the Stars. After winning seasons 4 and 5, Julianne was a pro until she left in season 8. She eventually would return as a judge for seasons 19 through 21, before coming back as a host since season 32.
As for Alfonso, he competed and later won season 19 alongside partner Witney Carson. He has since come back in season 31 as a co-host and has been doing so with Julianne by his side.

There you have it! Still, we would love to see Julianne put on her ballroom dancing shoes again if she ever changes her mind.
