Juraj Slafkovsky of the Montreal Canadiens has been having an amazing calendar year with the team as he is finally coming into his own.
In his rookie season with the team, many were skeptical that he would live up to the expectations of being the first overall pick. However, after joining the team in the second half of last season, Slafkovsky proved to be an absolute beast on the ice and was absolutely torching the competition.
To start the year with the Habs, he has been playing some solid hockey. In the first six games of the season, he has five assists and even a goal. Unfortunately, for the last few days, he has had some minor injury issues. This Saturday, he played against the New York Islanders, although it was clear that something was off. Today, the Habs announced that Slafkovsky would be out for at least a week.
Slafkovsky's injury has not been fully disclosed. But when you consider the length that he will be out for, it is clear that the injury isn't all that serious. This should definitely encourage Habs fans moving forward. However, it will still sting to lose him for the next few games.
Tonight, the Habs are currently in action against the New York Rangers. It should be an interesting game, although the Rangers will definitely be favored. Once Slafkovsky comes back, it will be fascinating to watch him dominate the ice.
