Lowry says her coparent was "really proud" of their 15-year-old son
Kailyn Lowry is clearing the air about a buzzed-about subject.
Following son Elliott, 15, coming out as a gay teen on Lowry's Barely Famous podcast, there has been a lot of speculation about how dad Jo Rivera feels about the decision.
Though Elliott explained that he's been out to his family since the fifth grade, Lowry, 33, touched on the subject during a recent chat with Parade.
"Jo and I had a really good conversation [the other day], and you know, he said that he listened to the episodes. He was really proud of Elliott, and he said that he was happy," she shared.
"He was perfectly fine with the questions that were being asked. He understands why Elliott wanted to do it ... I had the conversation with him, and he came up to me, you know? And he said that he’s supportive of it.

Elliott himself acknowledged that people jump to conclusions about his relationship with his dad, who prefers life outside of the public eye.
"I'm really sick of people coming up with their own stories and putting things in their own words and things coming out on other people's terms about me, because my life isn't entertainment for other people," the teen shared during the podcast.
"My life is my life, and I can do what I want with it. And for people to take things from my life, like personal stuff, is not okay. If I want to share it, I should share that on my own terms."
Elliott specifically mentioned talk about his dad during part two of the conversation, noting, "There are certain things that bother me, like when people talk about [Lowry], or my relationship with my dad. Like, just let me speak about it myself."
The teen said that commenters cross a line, noting, "You don’t need to say any of that…You don’t know me. You see me on social media and whatever, but you don’t hear me, you don’t know who I am unless I tell you, unless I show you.”
In addition to Elliott, Lowry is also mom to Lincoln, 11, with ex Javi Marroquin; Lux, 7, and Creed, 4, with ex Chris Lopez; and son Rio, 2½, and twins Verse and Valley, 20 months, with Elijah Scott. Rivera is also dad to daughter Velisse, 9½, with wife Vee Rivera.
