Kandi Burruss was one of the stars of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” for 14 seasons. While on the show, she introduced several members of her family, including Aunt Bertha. Recently, Kandi shared an update on her Aunt Bertha after discussing her battle with Alzheimer’s.
Kandi took to her Instagram account in June to post a series of pictures alongside Aunt Bertha. She said in the caption, “Today was a great day! Had a chance to spend time with @therealauntbertha.” The post contains three images, all of which feature the two embracing each other.
In the photos, Kandi is wearing a red dress, while her aunt is wearing a white shirt paired with blue jeans. Several of Kandi’s former “Real Housewives of Atlanta” co-stars reacted to the post. This includes Sheree Whitfield, Drew Didora, and Miss Lawrence.
Aunt Bertha Left Her Mark on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta While Kandi Was a Cast Member
According to Bravo, Kandi revealed in May that Aunt Bertha had been battling Alzheimer’s. She said at the time, “The Old Lady Gang, they are, they’re not really — I don’t know how you discuss things like this.”
The singer and songwriter went on, “We’re having a really hard time because my Aunt Bertha has Alzheimer’s. So, you know, trying to manage that.” She then said, “If anybody’s ever dealt with somebody in your family going through that, and it gets worse, and then everybody is like, you know, it’s not easy.”
This comes years after Aunt Bertha last appeared on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” with Kandi. Still, despite how long it’s been, fans of the show recall some of Kandi’s aunt’s most memorable moments. The most famous being the time she said, “It was a scheme that Todd set up.” Many left this as a comment under Kandi’s recent post.
She Has Been Quite Busy Since Leaving “Housewives”
Many fans of “The Real Housewives of Atlanta” were sad to see Kandi Burruss leave. However, she departed the series on her own accord and has been thriving since. Not only was she a producer on the uber-successful Broadway revival of “Othello,” but she’s also launching a new girl group.
Additionally, Kandi has made it clear that she plans to continue producing Broadway shows. She also tours with her R&B group, Xscape. Of course, she and her husband, Todd Tucker, are still very much involved in the Atlanta restaurant scene.
