Kandi Burruss Reveals Todd Chrisley Conversation She Had After His Prison Release

After being convicted of fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States, Todd Chrisley still has a friend in Kandi Burruss. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star has been a vocal supporter of the Chrisley family, especially after they received pardons from the POTUS.

RHOA fans called out Kandi for her support of the controversial reality star, but Kandi doubled down on social media. Now, you could probably say that she’s tripling down, because at the BET Awards, she opened up about the phone call she just with Todd after his release from federal prison.

Kandi Burruss calls Todd Chrisley a friend

Kandi spoke to Entertainment Tonight on the BET Awards red carpet when she detailed the chat she had with the Chrisley Knows Best alum. It happened just days after he and his wife received full pardons from the President.

“I did talk to them! I talked to Todd,” Kandi eagerly shared.

According to Kandi, her and Todd’s friendship goes way back because their reality shows were both under the NBCUniversal umbrella. She said that Todd reached out to her because he saw her catching heat for supporting him.

“Of course, I’m happy for my friend. He was just reaching out and telling me he doesn’t want me to get any backlash because of him. It was more about me, which I thought was crazy,” Kandi said.

Although the Chrisley family’s undying loyalty to the President is what got them out of prison, Kandi said that she sees Todd as a “voice” for injustice. She says he’s always been that way, even before he got out of prison. We must have missed that episode of Chrisley Knows Best, but in Kandi’s eyes, Todd is a man for the people.

“I think he’s definitely a voice. You got to remember, he always cared about minorities and issues that deal with minorities,” Kandi claimed. “He’s raising a daughter who’s a young Black woman, so of course those issues, even though it doesn’t affect him personally, it affects him.”
