RHONJ alum Kathy Wakile weighed in on Melissa Gorga's comments about wanting to resolve their family issues.
Kathy Wakile is shedding new light on her recent reunion with cousin-in-law, Melissa Gorga.
Back in June 2024, The Real Housewives of New Jersey cast member confirmed on Jeff Lewis Live that Kathy and Rich Wakile had bought a lot on the same street as her and husband Joe Gorga. She also said that she was hoping that Joe would run into the pair so they could get back on good terms.
Fast-forward to April 2025, and Kathy revealed on Page Six's Virtual Reali-Tea podcast that she had already met up with Melissa and Joe before Jeff Lewis live aired. Kathy added that she and Rich sit on the board of a local charity that hosted an event that the Gorgas also attended.
"I didn’t see them, but they saw me and didn’t say hello," Kathy continued on the podcast. "The next day, Melissa texts me, which was very nice. She reached out and said how sad it was that we were at the same event and we walked by each other and we didn’t say hello. And I hadn't seen him, so I said, 'Shame on [Joe] if he saw me that he didn’t come up to me.'"
Melissa wondered if the two couples could get together to hash out their issues. "She said, 'I think that there’s things we should talk about. Would you be open? I don't know what we ever did,'" the mom of two continued. "I think we both know what you did, and if you want to talk, sure, let's talk. So we met for lunch and [then] she went on Jeff Lewis and acted like, 'Oh, that’s a good idea, Jeff,' when we had already had our lunch," she said.

From Kathy's perspective, the lunch went OK. "It was fine, we cleared the air," she continued on the podcast. "I don't think it went as [Melissa] would have liked it to go, not that there was anything harsh or anything like that said. I just pretty much put everything on the line and told her and reminded her of the things that went down."
Melissa later responded to Kathy's latest interview on Instagram, calling it a "strange reach." "I did reach out trying to connect the cousins with nothing but good intentions. She asked me to please not tell anyone we had lunch and not to mention it in the press or on my podcast. So I honored her wishes. I guess she wanted to be the one to tell the story," she commented.

Melissa opened up about how she was about to become neighbors with Kathy and Rich during a June 2024 appearance on Jeff Lewis Live.
"She and Richie just bought the lot across the street from me, and they are building a house diagonal from me, across the street," Melissa told host Jeff Lewis. "On my street, literally."
She added, "I secretly hope Joe and Kathy are walking down the street one day and bump into each other, because, at the end of the day, Kathy is a good person and I do think that [Joe] regrets — he did what he had to do at the time... but he enjoyed Kathy. Kathy was a good cousin to him and she took care of him, he had a great relationship with Rosie. Growing up, those two were extremely close, Joe and Rosie [Pierri]. So I do think it's unfortunate that that's family and they're not together."
