Katie Thurston candidly is opening up about the reality of not being able to carry a child.

During her and her husband Jeff Arcuri's appearance on Kaitlyn Bristowe's Off the Vine podcast, the former reality TV star, 34, revealed her complex emotions surrounding not being able to carry a child. Thurston, who announced her breast cancer diagnosis in February, told Bristowe that Arcuci has been very helpful when it comes to reminding her to stay positive.

"We've had a lot of conversations about it, and there's all these moments that I feel like we won't get to have," she said. "But, then he's very sweet and reminds me we still can do that. We can still do a baby shower. We can still experience finding out the news."

"He's very sweet about that," she added. "As great as it would have been to carry my own child, there's also a lot that I can focus on my own personal health and healing my cancer versus [the] health of a child inside of me."

Thurston and Arcuri tied the knot in an intimate backyard ceremony at their home on Saturday, March 22. The couple told Us Weekly. that they decided to move up their wedding date because Thurston was beginning treatment for her stage 3 breast cancer, which has since developed to stage 4.

The former Bachelorette announced her diagnosis just months after getting engaged. She and Arcuri told Us Weekly the diagnosis has only reinforced and strengthened their dedication and love for each other.

"I want to be able to be in the hospital with her and just be like, 'My wife's in there,' " Arcuri said. "There's more power to that."

The comedian popped the question in August 2024 on a remote beach. Thurston shared a carousel of photos from their engagement, and ended the post with a video of Arcuri getting down on one knee.

"When you know, you know🤍🖤," she wrote at the time.

Since receiving her diagnosis, Thurston has been transparent about the condition and how it's impacted her. On Tuesday, May 6, Thurston posted on her Instagram Stories, opening up about hot flashes, fatigue and more. She previously shared that she started hormone-blocking therapy. The monthly injections stop her body’s production of estrogen and progesterone. In turn, the lack of hormones has pushed the 34-year-old into medically induced menopause.

“Slept like s— because I’m now in medically induced menopause, which means I get hot flashes,” the reality star said. “Tonight I have to be social so I figured I would ease into that by being social with you guys during the day. In the meantime, show you kind of what a normal day looks like for me.”

Thurston then grabbed a glass of water and explained that her medication has left her extremely dehydrated.

“My lips have been chapped for what feels like two weeks straight,” she said. “So it’s this game of, like, catch-up and trying to just make sure I get enough water, which I was already bad at before medication and now it’s like a true task every day to force myself to consume water. So, good morning!”

She included text over the clip, writing, “Tired AF from menopause and dehydration AF from medication.”
