Fans of Kelly Clarkson traveled far and wide to see the powerhouse singer and original “American Idol” winner perform the first show of her new Las Vegas residency on July 4, 2025.
But 90 minutes before the concert at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace, Clarkson alerted ticketholders via social media that she was “devastated” to inform them she had lost her voice while preparing for the show, dubbed the “Studio Sessions,” and had to postpone her first handful of shows.
“We have been working 24/7 to make Studio Sessions the most intimate and extraordinary experience with and for my incredible fans,” Clarkson wrote. “I am beyond grateful that you always show up for me and I am devastated to have to postpone tonight and tomorrow’s opening at Caesars.”
Many of those fans commented that when they saw the news, they were already at or on their way to the show after traveling to see her. But rather than expressing anger about the turn of events, the vast majority of Clarkson’s fans showered the talk show host with love and well-wishes, making it the most wholesome little spot on social media.
Fans Urge Kelly Clarkson to Take Good Care After Show Postponements
Within four hours of posting her heartfelt message, over 33,000 fans had liked Clarkson’s post, in which she revealed, “The prep and rehearsals have taken a toll on my voice. I want the shows to be perfect for y’all and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve.”
Fans flooded Clarkson’s post with stories of where they flew in from and why they were so excited to see the first show of her residency. But the majority did so with kindness, wishing Clarkson well and urging her to take good care of her voice.
One commented, “Came from Texas to see you! Sending love – rest up and feel better soon! 💛”
“Ohhhh Kelly,” another wrote. “My Birthday weekend will not be the same . We love you. ❤️”
Of course, people were still disappointed, but they tempered that with love for Clarkson, including one who wrote, “Ughhhhh I was already here!!!!! 😭😭😭😭 feel@better queen”
Another wrote, “Ughhhh I was so excited for opening night. We were ALL so excited waiting in line all day. I hope you feel better. ❤️🩹”
“I certainly get that folks are disappointed by the last minute cancelation,” another person weighed in, “but a professional singer’s voice can give out any moment. I recall Josh Groban talking about how it once happened to him *during* a show. There’s no voice in the world like Kelly’s. Rest up, Queen.”
Another fan chimed in, “When you ACTUALLY sing live, you are allowed this grace. Rest that incredible instrument ❤️”
Someone else reasoned, “we know queen kelly rarely cancels her show.. it’s her voice that at risk.. let her rest. knowing her personality it must be really really hard and breaking for her to cancel a show. she loves her fans.”
Kelly Clarkson Was Looking Forward to Kicking Off ‘Truly Incredible’ Vegas Show
Clarkson had been teasing the upcoming show with a daily countdown, including early on July 4, clearly excited about what she and her team were creating in Vegas.
“The show is truly incredible,” she wrote in her July 4 post about the show’s cancellation. “The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can’t wait to be back next weekend and show y’all what we’ve been working on.”
Representatives at Caesar’s Palace told Las Vegas station KVVU-TV that ticket holders could choose to receive a full refund or keep their tickets while the venue and Clarkson’s team work to reschedule the shows.
Rumors had been swirled in the spring that she had grown frustrated with the amount of time her NBC talk show required, taking time away from her kids and from performing. She is expected to return to “The Kelly Clarkson Show” in the fall, however.
