Kyle Pitts Opens Up to Cam Newton About Goals for 2025 Season

Since being drafted fourth overall by the Falcons in 2021, Kyle Pitts has had a career filled with highs and lows.

Pitts broke records as a rookie with over 1,000 receiving yards, but struggled to stay healthy in 2022 and saw his numbers drop. The following two seasons brought slight improvement, but many still feel he hasn’t lived up to his high draft status.

Now entering a contract year in 2025, Pitts says he’s more focused than ever. On Cam Newton’s 4th & 1 podcast, he shared that he believes this will be his best season yet, crediting better chemistry with the offense and a renewed mindset.

What Kyle Pitts Told Cam Newton on the 4th & 1 Podcast

Pitts opened up to Newton on the 4th & 1 podcast about the pressure of entering his fifth NFL season. He admitted that this is a key year for him, saying, "You are your 5th year, now you see if you don't perform you don't get those signings or different appearances or those brands reaching out to you."

He also reflected on how hard it’s been to constantly adjust to new quarterbacks. “This is my first year going in with a quarterback that I played with previously, OTAs and training camp were going in with a building relationship, not a new one." He said, referring to Michael Penix Jr.

"All those guys bring something different to the game. I appreciate all of them—they taught me something different.” Pitts said, referring to his past quarterbacks with the Falcons.

When talking about the connection between a quarterback and tight end, Pitts stressed how complex the game really is. “To play the game is all 11. If one person messes up, it’s a trickle-down effect,” he said. “It’s a bunch of things that go into one play. Everyone thinks it’s just, ‘Why aren’t you open?’ No—you might be open but just might be on the other side of the field. It changes every play, every quarter.” Pitts emphasized that it’s about adapting, staying locked in, and “rolling with the punches,” while always trying to figure out where he needs to be to help his quarterback succeed.

Pitts’ focus and adaptability heading into his fifth season could be the key to unlocking his full potential. With a stronger relationship with Penix and a clearer understanding of what’s needed to succeed, 2025 may very well be the breakout year that fans have been waiting for.
