Kyle Richards Teases Major Move Amid RHOBH Filming Break

Kyle Richards is considering a big move in the future. In a May 2025 interview, “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star said she wants to have a quieter life—and that it would include a move away from her $8.5 million Encino, California estate.

“I’ve been telling my friends lately, that’s it, I’m moving to a farm. I am going off the grid,” Richards told DailyMail.com in the interview.

The mom of four, who is dealing with a separation from her husband Mauricio Umansky as well as the serious health issues of her close friend Teddi Mellencamp amid the RHOBH hiatus, explained that social media has become too scary a place for her. “It’s so toxic, it’s so negative. I can’t stand it,” Richards said. “’I’m going to live off the land. I don’t want to go on any social media.”

Kyle Richards Said She Doesn’t Feel as ‘Connected’ to L.A. Anymore

This isn’t the first time Richards has hinted at an extreme move. While she was born and raised in Southern California, the RHOBH star bravely teased a move away from the area.

In the RHOBH season 13 episode, “A Celebration of Life,” Richards reflected during a scenic day trip to Ojai, California, with her castmates. “When I’m here, places like this, I think this is how I wanna live, just like this. Quiet, away from everybody,” she said. “I will always have a love for Los Angeles, but I just don’t feel as connected to it as I used to. The things that make me happy are being outside, running by the river, hiking with my dog.”

Richards clarified that she would not make any moves until after her youngest daughter Portia, finished high school. “One day, when Portia’s done with school, I’m gonna choose someplace to live that is more conducive to what brings me happiness,” Richards vowed.

Portia will graduate from high school in 2026 and is currently looking at colleges.

Kyle Richards Previously Said She Has Too Many Dogs to Move

Despite her long separation from Umansky, Richards has opted to remain in the former couple’s Encino mansion. In April 2024, she told fans on an Amazon Live that she chose to stay in the family home for practical reasons. “I’m still in my house, I have too many dogs to go anywhere else. I’m still here,” she said at the time.

Even if she moves and goes off the grid,  Richards has said she will keep her Encino dream home for her daughters. “Even if I move one day to, like Aspen, Colorado, I’ll keep [our Encino home] for my kids or something,” Richards previously hinted that she could retire to Aspen someday,” the RHOBH star told Bravo TV.com in 2022.
