Kyle was really feeling smug on the July 21 episode of The Young and the Restless. He bragged to Audra about how he’d figured out her and Victor’s plan and was the smartest person in the room yet again. Nothing can stop him now! That may help Kyle sleep at night, but we are actually seeing a way he could lose everything.
Out Of Sight, Out of Heart
Kyle (Michael Mealor) is expecting Claire (Hayley Erin) to be sitting at home, patiently waiting for him. After all, he’s her first love. It’s impossible she could ever find someone better than him.
What Kyle doesn’t know is that, while he was so bravely resisting Audra (Zuleyka Silver) in France, Claire lost her dad. She’s despondent. To the point of turning to Holden (Nathan Owens).
What if, when Kyle returns home, Claire doesn’t want to hear about how faithful he was? Kyle wasn’t here to support her through the trauma of Cole’s (J. Eddie Peck) death. And she’s not interested in a guy she can’t count on.

Contract Rates
Claire dumps Kyle. And you know what that means? Victor (Eric Braeden) gets to collect the five million dollars Kyle promised him in case he ever hurt Claire.
Hurting Claire didn’t have to mean an affair. Claire was hurt by Kyle’s absence. Pay up, little Abbott.

It’s Just Business
To pour salt into that wound, Victor can then turn around and give Audra the five million dollars Kyle paid him. She lived up to her part of the bargain. Claire dumped Kyle. The details are irrelevant.
They had a deal. So now Audra has Kyle’s money. It’s a good thing Kyle still has his nepo-baby job.
Reconsidering
Not so fast, Ky-Guy. Jack (Peter Bergman) has put up with so much stupidity from his son. This one is just the last straw.
Kyle signed a contract offering Victor money in case he hurt Claire? What kind of dumb, asinine, and dumb move is that? No matter what Diane (Susan Walters) says, Jack can no longer trust his son’s judgment. He can’t keep letting him have a substantial position at Jabot.
Left Behind
So now Kyle has no girl, no job, and no respect. Could this possibly make him… grow up?
