After 12 action-packed seasons on Chicago P.D., LaRoyce Hawkins is taking a moment to breathe—and to look back.

As Officer Kevin Atwater, Hawkins has brought integrity, vulnerability, and unshakable strength to a role that has become one of the most important voices in the Chicago P.D. universe. From taking on corrupt cops to grappling with systemic injustice, Atwater has never shied away from tough choices—and neither has the man who plays him.

In a recent interview, Hawkins shared what the past 12 seasons have meant to him, both personally and professionally.

“I came into this job wanting to tell the truth through art,” he said. “And now, 12 seasons later, I’m more committed to that than ever.”

While Hawkins didn’t confirm whether Season 13 will be his last, he hinted at wanting to stretch himself creatively—possibly behind the camera or in new genres. Still, his love for the Chicago P.D. family runs deep.

“Whatever happens next,” he added, “Kevin Atwater will always be a part of me.”

Fans have praised Hawkins’ grounded, emotional performance and are eager to see where his journey leads—whether in Chicago or far beyond it.

One thing is certain: LaRoyce Hawkins isn’t done telling stories. He’s just getting started.
