Las Vegas Raiders Fan, Hero Timothy Quinn, Dies in U.S. Steel Explosion After Saving a Life at Training Camp

The Las Vegas Raiders community is in mourning after the tragic death of Timothy Quinn, a dedicated Raiders fan who heroically saved a 70-year-old woman’s life at the team’s training camp on August 9, only to lose his life in a devastating U.S. Steel plant explosion just days later.

On August 9, 2025, at Highmark Stadium during the Raiders' training camp, Quinn witnessed a woman collapse from cardiac arrest. Without hesitation, he sprang into action, using his CPR training to help save her life, assisted by medical staff. His quick thinking and selflessness earned him praise from Raiders fans and media, and he was hailed as a hero by the passionate Raiders Nation. His act of bravery was a perfect reflection of the camaraderie and compassion that defines Las Vegas' "City of Good Neighbors."

Tragically, just two days later, on August 11, 2025, Quinn, 39, was killed in a tragic explosion at the U.S. Steel plant in Clairton, Pennsylvania. His sister, Tricia, spoke to WTAE Pittsburgh, sharing the family's heartbreak as they searched desperately for him after the explosion. She described Timothy as a devoted father, a hardworking steelworker, and a lifelong Raiders fan who wore Josh Allen's No. 17 jersey to every game and tailgate.

The Raiders Nation quickly rallied around Quinn’s family, with an outpouring of support flooding in across social media. The Raiders community expressed their grief on X (formerly Twitter), with @RaidersNation stating, “Timothy saved a life at camp and was our heart. We lost a brother, but his legacy endures.”

A GoFundMe campaign for Quinn’s three children raised thousands of dollars, a testament to the generosity of the Raiders Nation, which has supported many charitable causes in the past, including campaigns for players like Tyler Bass and Mark Andrews.

The explosion at the U.S. Steel plant shocked Pittsburgh, and calls for workplace safety investigations followed. Quinn's girlfriend, who was not present at the time of the explosion, has been left to mourn the loss of her partner.

Timothy Quinn’s legacy is one of selflessness, heroism, and love for the Las Vegas Raiders. His bravery at the training camp and his unwavering devotion to his family and team will never be forgotten. Fans have called for a moment of silence in his honor at the Raiders’ game on August 17, ensuring that his spirit lives on in Las Vegas’ heart.

Though he’s gone, Timothy Quinn’s legacy as a hero and passionate Raiders fan will forever remain a cherished part of Raiders Nation.
