Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Geno Smith knows what now needs to be done before the season starts

The Las Vegas Raiders now have their quarterback, the one they have been looking for the last few years. And, it's a guy who is considered one of the best 15 quarterbacks in the league, and he won't be afraid to let anyone know that, either.

Getting their quarterback, former Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith, is going to make the rest of the offseason so much easier. Now, they won't have to have their full focus on making sure that need is filled, whether it was through the draft or another avenue. They can enter the draft with a clear focus on just building the right team around Smith and on the defensive side, around Maxx Crosby.

And now they are less than a month away from the 2025 NFL Draft with their offseason program starting on Tuesday. The Raiders are ready to get to work with their quarterback, and he's ready, too. While he's going to be learning Chip Kelly's offensive system and the playbook, he also knows what else he is going to be doing from here on out, especially if he wants this to be successful for the next few years.

"Yeah, just get closer to my teammates, really learn the name of everybody in the building, get to know every single person in this building and get to know my teammates," Smith said at his introductory press conference on Monday. "Get acclimated with the weather here, get acclimated with the city, find myself here, and really just start to build it the way that we will see it."

Smith signed a two-year contract extension worth up to $85 million on top of his one year that he had left. So, he could be in town for three years, the same length as Pete Carroll's contract. He is "the quarterback of the future," as we have heard a handful of times through reports during the contract negotiations.

The season will be here before we know it, and Smith will be ready.
