Last Of Us Meets Dead Space In This Upcoming Horror Blockbuster

Horror fans got a great announcement over the weekend, with the upcoming game from Silent Hill developers at Bloober Team revealing Cronos: The New Dawn's official release date on September 5, 2025. If you're a fan of Dead Space and The Last of Us, not to mention the iconic Silent Hill franchise, this game looks incredibly promising and should definitely be on your wishlist.

Cronos: The New Dawn promises players a "philosophical horror" experience in the must-play single-player sci-fi shooter. It will also feature intense combat, a unique and compelling original story, and plenty of other interesting features to get horror fans excited. Cronos: The New Dawn is available for pre-order on all major platforms now.

Cronos: The New Dawn Should Be On Every Horror Fan’s Wishlist

Bloober Team's Upcoming Horror Sensation Has Plenty To Offer

How Does 'The Last of Us' TV Show Differ From the Game?

Cronos: The New Dawn has me more excited than any other horror game release this year, which is saying a lot with games like Dying Light: The Beast slated for a September release, as well as Supermassive's Directive 8020, though that was pushed to 2026, among others. The new release date trailer gives us a better sense of what to expect next month when the game officially launches.

In particular, we get a brief look at the characters and setting, with third-person gameplay and cinematics that could be pulled straight out of Dead Space. Cronos: The New Dawn's focus on psychological/philosophical horror means we can expect much more than simple jump scares, and with its survival-based story, I'm hoping for character and plot development on the level of The Last of Us.

Cronos Promises A Unique Horror Experience

It's Past Time For A New & Original Horror Game

Because this is a new original IP from the same team that brought us Silent Hill 2, I'm convinced Cronos: The New Dawn could easily be the next major horror blockbuster, assuming it can deliver on both narrative and gameplay. Players are going to be especially drawn to a unique horror story in the game, and relying on simple tricks won't cut it.

However, after watching the newest trailer, I'm sold on the style and setting and really looking forward to the narrative elements, especially after the scene with the two characters speaking next to a piano. This scene suggests to me that the story will be at the forefront of this game, with horrifying gameplay to complement it, rather than the other way around.

Overall, if you haven't had a chance to check out Cronos: The New Dawn and are a fan of the horror genre, the newest trailer will undoubtedly pique your interest. This is a game that needs to be on your radar, and with a September 5 release now officially locked in, it's one of the most exciting launches of the summer.
