Late pop singer and “Dancing with the Stars” alum Aaron Carter’s son Prince made his first public red carpet appearance on April 9 at the Los Angeles premiere of “The Carters: Hurts to Love You,” a new two-part documentary about the Carter family.
The 3-year-old walked the carpet with his mother, Melanie Martin, wearing a black leather jacket, jeans, and Batman sneakers at the event held two years after the late singer’s death.
Aaron Carter’s twin sister, Angel Carter Conrad, also attended the screening in support of the film. The event brought out close family members, friends, and celebrities, including Tori Spelling and Rebecca Gayheart, who showed support for the project.
The documentary, which premieres April 15 on Paramount+, explores the Carter family’s complex history, touching on addiction, fame, childhood trauma, and mental health. In an exclusive interview with People, Conrad revealed she became emotional while watching old family footage used in the film, including difficult moments involving their late sister Leslie.
Aaron Carter Died Years After Appearing on DWTS

Carter, known for his early pop hits and as a contestant on season 9 of “Dancing with the Stars,” died on November 5, 2022, at the age of 34. His body was found at his home by a housekeeper, and his death was later ruled accidental, resulting from drowning after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam (Xanax).
Carter competed on “Dancing with the Stars” in 2009 with professional partner Karina Smirnoff. The duo finished in fifth place, with Carter earning praise for his stage presence and effort throughout the season.
His older brother, Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys, is also featured in the documentary. Nick Carter competed on season 21 of “Dancing with the Stars” in 2015, finishing in second place alongside pro partner Sharna Burgess. The brothers’ relationship over the years was often in the public eye, and the film offers insight into the family’s challenges and connections.
Aaron Carter Was Committed to Co-Parenting Prior to His Death
Prince was born in November 2021, during a period of reconciliation between Carter and Martin. The couple first began dating in early 2020 and announced their engagement in June of that year. Their relationship included a series of breakups and reconciliations before welcoming their son. Despite their struggles, Carter and Martin had publicly expressed a shared commitment to co-parenting.
Prince’s appearance on the red carpet with his mother came just two years after his father’s death and tied into the release of a documentary that explores the family’s history, challenges, and personal stories shared by those closest to Carter.
