As the New Orleans Saints attempt to get their next head coach on board, the 2025 NFL Draft looms ahead.
In the latest 3-round mock from A to Z Sports, the Saints made some smart picks throughout the process.
Saints go defense early
9. New Orleans Saints: Shemar Stewart, EDGE Texas A&M
The Saints love to draft big, hyper athletic pass rushers and that is Stewart to a T. He is likely to have a rise similar to Travon Walker from the 2022 class and it would be warranted.
- Tyler Forness
Stewart is a scheme fit that seems to be rising up boards. A month ago, he was rarely selected in round one of mocks. Now, you'd be surprised to find one without him in the top 25 selections.
40. New Orleans Saints: Jahdae Barron, CB Texas
The Saints traded Marshon Lattimore at the trade deadline and will need someone that can play opposite of Kool-Aid McKinstry. Barron can play at every position in the secondary, including on the outside.
- Tyler Forness
Love this value. Barron is a great, versatile cornerback prospect that would immediately compete for a starting role with the Saints.
Paulson Adebo is a free agent. Alontae Taylor is best served in the slot but played outside this past season, and Kool-Aid McKinstry is a projected starter at the position, too. Barron would be a home run pick at 40.
Saints' new RB and Taysom Hill
71. New Orleans Saints: Quinshon Judkins, RB Ohio State
Judkins is a compact, physical running back who can do all the dirty work in short yardage, while also breaking large ones. He will be a really good complement to Alvin Kamara while also being in position to take over.
- Tyler Forness
Adding a notable backup for Alvin Kamara is important for New Orleans. Kendre Miller has struggled with injuries so far in his pro career.
Judkins scored three touchdowns in the National Championship game for the Buckeyes. He provides some power and grit that could help improve the running game's depth for the Saints.
93. New Orleans Saints (via WAS): Savion Williams, WR TCU
What better way to get an explosive player than giving the Saints a better version of Taysom Hill? A better, taller version of Cordarrelle Patterson, Williams has all the explosiveness to attack defenses in a variety of ways.
- Tyler Forness
This one may catch a lot of eyeballs for fans. The comparison to Taysom is an intriguing one, and Williams is the type of weapon New Orleans could use.
In the wide receiver room, there's a lot of shiftiness and speed in Rashid Shaheed and Chris Olave, but they lack size. Williams can be a weapon outside and was often moved around on offense, even getting touches out of the backfield because of his unique blend of stature and swiftness.
This is a great choice this late in round three, via the top pick that the Saints received in the Marshon Lattimore trade.
All in all, this is a great scenario of picks for the Saints to help with their rebuild. Now, they just need to figure out who will be the head coach of their upcoming draft class.
