Lightning re-sign defenseman Declan Carlile to two-year, two-way contract - The Hockey News Tampa Bay Lightning News, Analysis and More

The Tampa Bay Lightning are staying busy, as they have re-signed defenseman Declan Carlile to a two-year, two-way contract.

Carlile, 24, spent the majority of this season down in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch. It was a solid year for the Flint, Michigan native, as he had seven goals to go along with a career-high 27 points in 61 games. This was after he posted eight goals and 24 points in 69 games during 2022-23, his first full season with the Crunch.

Carlile's solid play got the attention of the Lightning, as he also appeared in his first career NHL game on Jan. 4 against the Minnesota Wild. During that contest, he had one hit and two blocks.  Now, his goal will be to secure more chances with the NHL squad from here.

Carlile should compete for a depth spot on the Lightning's roster next season. If he doesn't make the NHL club, he will continue to be a solid contributor for the Crunch.
