Lightning Should Target Jets Young Forward - quynhlong

The Lightning should keep an eye on this Jets forward.

The Tampa Bay Lightning should look to make some moves this offseason. After a short playoff run, it is fair to argue that the Lightning are due for some changes to their group.

Bringing back Steven Stamkos is, of course, priority No. 1 for the Lightning. However, after that, the Lightning can go in many different directions with their roster this summer.

If the Lightning want to add to their forward group, one player they should seriously consider is Winnipeg Jets forward Cole Perfetti. The 2020 tenth-overall pick was notably scratched in four out of the Jets' five playoff games this year, which has created some speculation about him as a potential trade candidate.

Cole Perfetti

Perfetti, 22, is a young forward with great upside. The Ontario native took a step forward in his development this season, posting new career highs with 19 goals and 38 points in 71 games. The potential for him to become a true top-six forward is there, and he could be just that for the Lightning playing with stars like Nikita Kucherov, Brayden Point, and Brandon Hagel.

Perfetti also offers marvelous versatility, playing down the middle and on both wings. As a result, he would fit virtually anywhere in the Lightning's top nine if acquired. His offensive ability would make him a clear option for their power play.
