The Lightning have officially signed one of their promising prospects.
The Tampa Bay Lightning are staying busy, as they have signed prospect defenseman Dyllan Gill to a three-year, entry-level contract.
Gill, 19, was selected by the Lightning with the 223rd overall pick of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft. The Lightning would have lost the 6-foot-2 defenseman's signing rights if they did not get him signed by next month. However, they have avoided that possibility by inking him to this ELC.
Since being drafted, Gill has taken massive steps in his development. During the 2022-23 season with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies of the QMJHL, he set new career highs with eight goals, 49 assists, and 57 points in 68 games. An upper-body injury limited him to only 12 games this season with the Huskies, but he was solid when healthy, posting one goal and nine points.
Seeing a seventh-rounder produce so well at the junior level is incredibly encouraging, and the Lightning should already be happy with their selection of Gill. The potential for him to become an NHL talent later down the road is there.
