Lindsay Arnold Addresses Why She Hasn't Been Wearing Engagement Ring as She Approaches 10th Anniversary with Husband

Lindsay Arnold has a reason for her missing rock.

The Dancing With the Stars alum, 31, opened up on TikTok about why she hasn't been wearing her engagement ring for the past few months, prompting "a lot of questions" from her eagle-eyed followers.

"First of all, Sam and I are coming up on 10 years of marriage, which is crazy," she said of her husband, Samuel Lightner Cusick, during a "Get Ready With Me" video shared on April 17.

"Time has absolutely flown by," Arnold added. The couple tied the knot on June 18, 2015. "What's even crazier is we were together for six years before getting married," she continued. "So we're coming up on 16 years of being together."

The professional dancer says she remembers those early days of dating, though notes they were "completely different people" at the time. She then restated their wedding date, noting that it has to do with why her ring is currently absent.

Arnold said that she and Cusick had always talked about wanting to do "something special" in celebration of their 10th wedding anniversary.

"We've always kind of talked about doing an engagement ring upgrade at 10 years," she shared, clarifying that there's "nothing wrong" with her original ring. "I love it so much, but it's just something that we kind of want to do!"

"We're in a different place now than when we got engaged, obviously, and we kind of think it'd be fun to do an upgrade," she continued, joking, "And by 'we,' I mean mostly me."

Fortunately, Arnold said Cusick is "totally on board" with the idea — but ring revamp aside, there was still one more reason why she hadn't been wearing her rock.

"About three and a half months ago, two of the prongs on my main diamond... broke off," she shared. "We were already talking about how we needed to start thinking about designing the new ring and getting that ball rolling."

Arnold also said they didn't want to pay to get her current ring fixed when they're already getting a new one. However, she has an idea for the gem.

"I wanted to take the diamond and turn it into a pendant necklace," she shared. "I'll wear for now, and then we'll pass down to the girls... all the things."

While that pendant necklace process is already in motion, the "excited" athlete revealed they've already designed her new engagement ring. "It's so beautiful," she teased, noting its design is not a surprise to her, and she's fully aware of its look.

Arnold said she won't have the new ring until their anniversary in June.

"I just wanted to let you guys know there's nothing going on," she reiterated to her followers and also revealed that they're getting a new wedding band, too.

Arnold opened up to PEOPLE exclusively at the beginning of 2025 about her decision to step away from Dancing With the Stars at the height of her fame to raise a family after more than 10 years on the show. She took the leap of faith in September 2022.

At the time, the dancer had already begun creating a new life for herself as a mom after welcoming her daughter, Sage Jill, in November 2020 with her husband. In May 2023, she gave birth to her second daughter, June Cusick.

Arnold told PEOPLE she has absolutely no regrets about her decision to leave Hollywood, revealing that "everything changed in the best way” as she welcomed her first child.

"A lot of my priorities and where I wanted to spend my time... it just shifted,” she explained. "My mindset shifted. Time goes 10 times faster when you have kids, and I just know that this time is so precious and something that you don't get back."
