Lindsay Hubbard may be expecting her first child with her boyfriend, Turner Kufe, but that doesn’t mean she’s in a rush to get married — or even live together.
As she nears her due date, the 38-year-old Summer House star is opening up about the kind of mother she hopes to be, revealing if she and Turner have a baby name picked out, discussing how she felt filming season nine while pregnant, and more.
“A lot of people have asked me over the last eight months, you know, are you gonna live together? Are you moving in? Are you, you know, are you gonna get married?” Lindsay shared during an interview with Entertainment Tonight last week.
“Those were some things that I pretty much took off the table immediately upon finding out that we were pregnant,” she explained. “I was like, ‘Look, I am not looking for a proposal. I’m not thinking about marriage. It’s nowhere near the top of my mind, especially after everything that happened last year.’”
As Summer House fans will recall, Lindsay’s former fiance, Carl Radke, 39, called off their November 2023 wedding last August.
Although Lindsay was understandably left heartbroken by the split, she quickly moved on with Turner months later, but she kept his identity a secret and has yet to publicly acknowledge his name.
“It’s challenging. This is the first time that I’ve ever found myself in a situation where my partner and my boyfriend is a private person,” she shared. “I, in the beginning, was really enjoying that he’s a private person. He’s successful in his own right, he has his own wonderful job and career, and, you know, financially stable — that is, as we know, was really appealing to me — but it is very challenging because I am a very public person.”
According to Lindsay, her and Turner’s very different lifestyles are difficult for them both to navigate.
“We live in a city where anybody who’s in the financial realm … signed these no publicity clauses as a part of their contract. So, it’s tough to figure out, and it’s also tough because this is the life that I chose,” she noted.
While Lindsay has not yet revealed the name of her baby, who she confirmed is a girl months ago, she said she and Turner have picked one out.
“Everyone calls her Cub. Well, we’re not naming her Cub. We’ve had a name since basically very, very, very early on as soon as we found out, or as soon as I found out it was a girl, we just started immediately putting names on a list, and I actually threw this name on the list early on, and he fell in love with it and was like, I love that name,” she shared.
As for what kind of mom she’ll be, despite her estrangement from her own mother, Lindsay said she hoped to learn from her mom’s mistakes.
“I feel very blessed that I am having a girl because I think that it gives me the opportunity to course correct and to break the cycle so to say, you know, I’m now able to give my daughter things that maybe I didn’t have from my mother growing up, or I’m able to take the experience that I had of things I wish happened with my mother and give those, give those to my daughter,” she explained. “So, I feel really good about that, and I think it’s going to be a different type of healing that I never knew I needed, because I’ve done so much healing so far, you know in therapy, and abandonment work… but yeah, I do feel blessed to be able to kind of close that chapter in a way I never knew I needed.”
Also during the interview, after admitting that she feels “more complete now than [she] ever [has],” Lindsay stated that it was “fun” filming while pregnant.
“I had a great summer. It truly felt like we were all going through this together and like we had a house baby on the way. Everyone was so, so supportive, and you know, it’s interesting. Obviously, we’ve never had like a baby on the show,” she stated. “When we felt her first kicks over summer, like, I ran to the girls, and I was like, feel this! So, it’s really special.”
Summer House season nine is expected to begin airing on Bravo sometime in early 2025.
