Lisa Rinna shared new details on her abrupt exit from “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” two years ago. In January 2023, the Rinna Beauty founder stunned fans as she announced her exit from the Bravo reality show after eight seasons.
In a March 2025 interview on the “Therapuss” podcast, Rinna explained that she quit the show amid criticism from viewers.
“It got it got very difficult toward the end because of social media,” she said. “Because of in the beginning we wrote blogs, we wrote a blog you’d have to watch the show, and you’d write a blog about it. …Then it became social media, and everybody got really comfortable behind their computers, saying anything. And by the end, it was the fans were the ones that ran me off that show. It wasn’t Bravo, it wasn’t the girls. It was the fan base.”
Rinna claimed that mean-spirited viewers “villainized” her. “That’s the truth,” she added. “I left because the fan base turned on me. And listen, the fan base turns on everybody after a while. But this was a way that I was like, ‘Life’s too short, not doing to do this anymore.’ It was too much.”
Three months before she made her official exit announcement, Rinna was famously booed by the audience at BravoCon 2022.
The incident took place as she took the stage for the Bravo fan fest’s “Thrills in Beverly Hills’ panel. At the time, she told E! News she looked at the booing as a rite of passage, although she did respond by flipping her middle finger at the crowd.
“Everybody was very worried that I was booed, and I take it as a rite of passage, like a wrestler,” she explained. “ It’s like wrestling. …if you were booed, you were the star.”
Lisa Rinna Was Taken Aback By the ‘Hate and Vitriol’ She Received

At some point after filming RHOBH season 12, Rinna reassessed her situation. In a 2024 interview on “The Conversation with Amanda Cadenet” podcast, Rinna revealed that she received a lot of “hate and vitriol” following the RHOBH cast’s trip to Aspen. The trip ended with Kathy Hilton having an off-camera meltdown, which only Rinna witnessed. Rinna was criticized for publicly exposing things Hilton allegedly said about her sister Kyle Richards.
Rinna told Cadenet that viewers were upset over what would be her final RHOBH storyline.
“They got really mad about it, ‘they’ being the fanbase, and they didn’t know why,” she said. “They all of a sudden hated me, couldn’t stand me, wanted me off the show.”
“I can honestly tell you I don’t think I did anything different this past year or the year I ended the show than I’d done any time before,” she added. “It manifested in a great deal of social media hatred, like bullying, like death threats. Like, really intense, [more] than I’d ever seen.”
