When Season 12 of Vanderpump Rules hits our screens, it will be with a brand-new cast. The original cast, who couldn’t shelve their differences amid the fallout from Scandoval, were shown the door. Now the reboot of Pump Rules is filming, with a cast of employees who actually work at Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant, SUR. Welp, VPR alum Katie Maloney gave her thoughts on the reboot and the new cast. Now Lisa is firing back.
Lisa Vanderpump says the Pump Rules reboot cast is cheaper than those “expensive asses”
Recently, Katie made her feelings known about the new generation of Pump Rules. Spoiler alert: she wasn’t impressed with the idea. “This isn’t against any of [the new cast],” Katie stated. “I don’t know them, but it just feels cheap to me. It feels cheap and I don’t like cheap.” She added, “To me, it just feels like it’s going to try to have the same flavor and the same everything.”
So, when Lisa was a guest on Watch What Happens Live, you know that host Andy Cohen went there. “What did you make of Katie Maloney saying the new Vanderpump cast feels ‘cheap?’” Andy asked. “She said that somewhere recently.”

Lisa didn’t seem surprised. After all, she never heard from Katie again once the reboot was announced. “Well, I mean, listen, she’s right,” Lisa told Andy. “It’s younger and fresher and it’s a hell of a lot cheaper than paying for those expensive asses. So, yeah.” For the first time in recent memory, Andy was rendered speechless.
Meanwhile, Katie wasn’t the only VPR alum to shade the reboot. Tom Sandoval also criticized the show’s premise. “When Vanderpump Rules started, Lisa at that time just had Villa Blanca and SUR. She’s everywhere now. She’s not like emotionally, mentally present,” Tom said. “Nor does she even probably hardly know these f*cking people.” Oof.
Vanderpump Rules is now streaming on Peacock and Hayu in the UK and Ireland.
