Local cancer survivor auditions for Britain's Got Talent

Anne Taylor who is a member of Sea of Change choir says Britain's Got Talent was a phenomenal experience so far.

Cavan woman Anne Taylor was among members of the Sea Of Change Choir who auditioned for Britain's Got Talent. The group who auditioned on January 12th received a yes from each of the judges and a standing ovation from the crowd.

Anne described the public support as "amazing" since the episode aired, adding that the experience so far has been a "phenomenal ride." According to Anne, the talented choir which is made up of cancer survivors and people who have been impacted by cancer was formed to raise funds for the charity - Aoibheann's Pink Tie and to bring awareness to the difficulties that people face in life. In 2017 Anne had surgery to remove a cancerous tumour on her throat. As a result of the surgery, Anne also lost half of her thyroid and there was a strong possibility that she would have no voice afterwards.

Although the Munterconnaught woman remains "sworn to secrecy" as to how the group has progressed in the competition, Anne says a "huge amount of work" has went into this venture and she hopes it will inspire others to know that there is life after cancer or any difficulty that someone may be facing in life: "The song that we chose to sing at the audition was called Mountains by Sam Ryder and one of my favourite lines in it is 'I'm a fighter, it's like I was born to be one' because everyone faces some kind of battle in their life be it an illness or with your mental health so sometimes you have to take deep to overcome these things."
