Longtime Sabres Forward Sends Heartfelt Goodbye

Zemgus Girgensons said goodbye to the Sabres and their fans.

Longtime Buffalo Sabres forward Zemgus Girgensons moved on from the club this offseason, signing a three-year, $2.55 million deal with the Tampa Bay Lightning. It will be strange to see the veteran forward sporting a Lightning sweater as he spent each of his first 10 NHL seasons as a Sabre.

While Girgensons has moved on from the Sabres, he made sure to express gratitude to the club through a post on his personal Instagram account. In it, he touched on his former teammates and thanked the club's staff and fans for their support over the years.

Girgensons also showed immense class at the end of his post, noting that he wishes nothing but the best for the Sabres from here. Clearly, Girgensons appreciated his time as a Sabre.

In 688 career games with the Sabres, the 2012 first-round pick posted 89 goals, 99 assists, 188 points, and 1,239 hits. It will now be intriguing to see how he performs for the Lightning during his latest deal from here.
