Love Is Blind: Chelsea Completely Changed Careers To Help The Show

Love is Blind is currently 6 seasons deep, and it remains one of the most popular shows on Netflix. From memorable couples, to wild blow-ups, to everything in between, it's a dream come true for reality TV fans!

Chelsea Griffin Appiah, a veteran of season 4 of the show, went through the wringer during her season, but in the end, she and Kwame made it out alive and, more importantly, walked down the aisle and said "yes" to marriage.

A lot has changed since their season, which now feels like a lifetime ago. For Chelsea, one major change has come to her career field, as she ditched her former job for something a little closer to the show that made her famous.

During the most recent season's finale, Chelsea dropped a bomb when she let the world know that she had joined the show's casting team!

"I just don't feel like I would've gotten the opportunity to be on Love is Blind if it wasn't for an awesome casting team and process. I've always had the kind of passion for helping people. And after I went on the show I was like, ‘You know what? They were amazing and I really do think the show has really, really awesome potential for such great success, if it's casted well.’ And I was like, ‘I kind of want to be a part of that," Chelsea told PEOPLE .

One major benefit to having her on the team is that she can help guide cast members going through the process.

  • "There are some periods and gaps and gray areas where you may not hear from somebody or you're like, 'Am I doing the right thing in this process?' I think my hope is to kind of reinforce and tell people that, ‘Keep your head in the game and stay focused and stay positive. And focus on you and your life and the things you have going,'" she said.

The former speech-language pathologist also admitted that helping people is another reason why she joined the team.

  • "That really is something that I know I'm on this earth for, and I truly want people to have this opportunity. We really are looking for the normal, just kind of people that are living their life that have given up on love, that aren't looking for fame or for time on a television screen. And I'm really, really hoping and wishing that those people get this opportunity," she added.

Hilariously, Chelsea revealed part of the casting process that she endured en route to appearing on the show. It involved filming herself, something she had some fun with.

"I wrote a little poem and it was so cheesy, it's cringey as heck. It was, ‘Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm ready to be a wife, so please help me find the love of my life.’ So, I wrote a little cheesy sonnet ... I remember I was like, ‘I don't know if this is going to... what they're going to think of this at all. But I'm not going to overthink it,'" she remembered.

She then added, "I think it's important to continue to have the video and the applications because it's more personal. And I feel like they kind of got to know or just see me. And it was kind of a funny moment or entertaining. I mean really, you kind of want to stick out in some ways."

It's so great to see that the Love Is Blind team added someone who went through the process, as it gives its newest cast members a major boost of support.

For Chelsea, pursuing work in a field that focuses on helping people is right up her alley. After all, being a speech-language pathologist is all about helping others.

She Was A Speech-Language Pathologist Who Achieved Her Masters Of Science At Eastern Washington

For the unfamiliar, speech-language pathologists (SLP) assist individuals with a variety of communication, swallow, and cognitive disorders.

Chelsea was a pediatric SLP, meaning that her work focused on children.

Per her Instagram, she finished her Masters of Science from Eastern Washington back in 2021.

"Today I graduated with my Masters of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders. Becoming a speech language pathologist was a lifelong dream in the making. However I was not able to see or do anything about it until I truly BELIEVED in myself. I’d like to dedicate my degree to all of the children I have gotten the privilege to work with who helped me uncover my love for speech and language and who taught me that anything is possible.

She continues, "This was a long and hard journey that came with many sacrifices, expected and unexpected—including heart break, and a global pandemic but it was so worth it all. Nothing has ever felt so right to me in my entire life than becoming a pediatric speech language pathologist. I feel so incredibly grateful," she wrote as part of her celebratory post.

Circling back to the here and now, Chelsea is still with her Love is Blind partner, Kwame Appiah

Love is Blind contestants commit to more than blindly looking for love while on the set of the Netflix show, and many weren't happy about it.

When speaking with PEOPLE, Kwame opened up about the couple's second anniversary.

  • "It's a huge, huge, huge accomplishment. We both feel really special and really happy and really accomplished about the moment, and also glad that we're getting to take on a new part of our life and ourjourney together as we're approaching this anniversary as well," he said.

Chelsea then dished on the nature of their relationship, starting off the way it did.

"It's really interesting because when you get married in this way, it feels you do so much after the fact of getting married. Obviously you have to lay the foundation and get to know each other and decide to move forward with getting married to this person, but after, you're doing so much more in your relationship and in your marriage. And so two years to me, we're so proud and it makes sense, but it also feels longer. And I mean that in the best way possible, because we've done so much and have come so far and have grown so much in two years."

Not only is their marriage going strong, but the duo revealed that they locked down a house.

"The house has had to be the special plan right now. Fortunate for us, our birthdays are preceding our anniversary in pretty close proximity. Mine's March 31st and Chelsea's was just last weekend. And so we got to celebrate in some pretty big ways... but this year, the big thing is going to have to be the house that we've got. Financially, we definitely put a lot into it," Kwame said.Things appear to be better than ever for Chelsea and Kwame. Cheers to them for making things work after meeting on reality TV!
