Love Island fans beg producers to ‘step in’ to check on Islander after emotional moment

LOVE Island fans have voiced concerns for Shakira Khan after she cried to some of her fellow Islanders in emotional scenes.

The Burnley babe burst into tears and sought help from the producers after she ended her blossoming relationship with Conor over fears she’d never get over Harry

The Sun revealed Shakira sought support from Love Island's 24/7 duty of care team and asked to leave the villa altogether, but the team were able to talk her through the dark episode and she decided to stay.

It turns out Shakira was not the only one concerned for her mental health after her emotional moment, and viewers have asked for producers to step in to give her assistance.

"Love Island and Women's Aid, are you not going to do anything about the bullying that Shakira has faced from the misogynistic men. It’s truly unfair and so many people are worrying for her mental health," wrote one person on X, formerly Twitter.

Last week, Women’s Aid issued a statement condemning some of the male contestant's behaviour and criticising the ITV reality show for perpetuating misogyny and sexism.

"Producers desperate to get rid of Shakira - make it make sense?, when she's the realest, most considerate, respectful girl in there?

"Love Island [has] become more toxic as the years goes on. This year has tipped it for me not to want to watch the show anymore. Half of them aren't there for love anymore.

"Just mean games with no respect. Honestly love island, do better. Bring back the way love island was in the early days," wrote another person on Instagram.

And a third person commented: "Idc [I don't care] what anyone says one thing Shakira has proven again and again is she is honest and not playing a game and we love her for that."

The concern for Shakira comes just a day after viewers slammed Love Island bosses for nominating her for 'Most Emotional Moment' in the annual Grafties award.

The ITV2 reality dating show revealed that the Grafties awards were returning and invited fans to vote in six different categories.

The Grafties are an awards ceremony that the Islanders attend where the public votes for nominees - chosen by Love Island producers - in the six categories.

Those categories include, Flirtiest Performance, Unfinished Business, Best Double Act, Most Emotional Moment, the Best No Filter Moment, and the Eat, Sleep, Crack On, Repeat award.

Last year's Grafties were so controversial that media regulator, Ofcom, received hundreds of complaints about them.

Shakira was nominated in multiple categories for the Grafties and fans have accused producers to trying to "make Shakira a villain."

She was nominated for Best No Filter Moment and Best Double Act alongside Toni.

One fan reacted to the nominations writing: "Toni and Shakira will again look like mean girls.. producers when I catch you…"

And another posted: "Honestly women’s aid need to release a statement about the love island producers for what they are putting shakira through."
