A popular Love Island couple have split just four months into their relationship, according to reports. Sammy Root and Elma Pazar are said to have called time on their coupling, with the duo being caught on camera breaking up.
The "raw and emotional" scenes are said to have been filmed for the latest series of The Only Way Is Essex and are set to air later in the year. In the footage, that will air on ITV2 and ITVX, it's claimed viewers will see the split isn't "straightforward".
"Elma and Sammy aren’t together right now, but there is a lot of love still between them," a source said.
The insider continued to tell The Sun: ""It’s not a straightforward split, viewers will see how Elma and Sammy navigate their feelings on Towie, as they discuss their issues to see whether they can make their relationship work going forward."
They added that the pair still have a strong connection, insisting their future is up in the air. The source went on to claim fans will see the couple have a number of heart to hearts in front of the camera, with reasons behind their split set to unfold.
"Throughout the series their story features some of the rawest and emotional reality ever shot for TOWIE," the source claimed.
Despite being regulars on TOWIE, Elma and Sammy didn't romantically connect until their stint on Love Island together. At the time, Elma told Sammy she believed they would go the distance on the outside.
She explained: "We have not been in each other's pockets, which I think is very healthy. We have both gone back to our lives which is nice.
"We have still got each other - we speak every single day, and I met his family. Our families watched us for the last few weeks and probably feel like they know us inside out so it is nice for them to meet us properly."
Their relationship was seemingly continuing to grow back in Essex. At the start of the month, Sammy had tried to pour cold water over split rumours.
Sammy revealed to OK!: "I don't really know where the rumours come from. Its usually the tiniest little thing; I could post carrousel pictures and it won't have her in it or she'll do the same to me, and then apparently we broke up."
He went on: "I think some people probably get a bit passionate about each couple. So they like to see pictures of you with each other. Whenever I'm posting content and I'm not with Elma. There's always comments saying 'Where's Elma?'"
"If I see anything about us being broken [up], I'll just DM it to Elma and we'll just laugh about it," Sammy confessed at the time.
