Love Island’s Millie Court on engagement and why she and Liam are the real life Gavin and Stacey

Millie Court and her boyfriend Liam Reardon are practically Love Island royalty, as they successfully took their villa romance into the real world and are still going strong three years later. Having appeared on the seventh series in 2021, the couple are more loved-up than ever. Now, they’re preparing to take their relationship to the next level, as 27-year-old Millie exclusively reveals to OK!.

As well as planning her next big move with Liam, 24, Millie has been busy channelling her inner A-lister in a new beauty campaign, and has done some real-life celeb spotting on this year’s festival circuit. Here, she tells us more…

Hi, Millie! It looked like you had a fab time at Coachella…

I’ve actually been twice now and the thing I loved both times was the celeb-spotting! I saw Megan Fox, Nicole Scherzinger, Paris Hilton, and just thought, “I’m actually in the same proximity as these massive A-list celebrities, this is really fun.” But everyone goes all-out at festivals and it’s all about making the hair and make-up extra, with all the gems. Going to Coachella is kind of like an assignment and you’ve got to look the coolest you’ve ever looked – it’s so much fun!

Who inspired your fashion tastes when you were younger?

I was obsessed with Girls Aloud, Avril Lavigne and Miley Cyrus, those were my favourites. I’d get their CDs out and put them on my little CD player in my bedroom and read the lyrics off the booklet.

The VO5 campaign shoot looks like a lot of fun…

It really was, I loved every minute of it! It was a lengthy process because we had to get each headliner to look spot-on. I wanted to really embody them and look exactly the same. I had to wear wigs too, which was interesting. I’ve never worn a wig before.

Which look was your favourite?

Dua Lipa, I think. Seeing it all come together was amazing. I really love her style anyway so her outfit with the pink shirt and the skirt was really cool. I didn’t recognise myself in the Taylor Swift wig!

Where do you keep all your clothes?

I live with Chloe [Burrows, her fellow Love Islander] and we’re both hoarders! We’ve got a bedroom that we’ve converted into a space with six double clothes rails because we have so many clothes! Every three months we’ll have a big clearout and I let my friends and family go through it all, then I’ll sell them on Reliked [a preloved clothing website] if it’s a designer piece, and give the rest to charity shops.

Are you more of a Welsh country girl or an Essex city girl now?

Well, I’m an Essex girl so I haven’t always been at one with nature, I’m all about the glitz and glam! But when I’m with Liam in Wales we’re in the valleys and mountains, it’s very much outdoors and I’ve come to enjoy that lifestyle. It’s all about the campervanning, hiking – he made me walk Snowdon [the highest mountain in Wales]. Actually, it was horrible but I did it!

How do you manage your long-distance relationship?

Liam is not good at planning. So I’m the planner and I basically say “this is where and when you need to be”. I go away a lot with work so we might not see each other for two weeks, but that’s the longest time apart and I’ll organise it so I land back and drive straight to him from the airport. We’re making it work and it’s perfect at the moment.

People ask you a lot about when you’re getting engaged, do you mind?

Someone just asked me that! We need to get a house together before we get engaged. It’s a discussion we’re having at the moment and I think it’s leaning more towards me moving into Cardiff with Liam. I don’t know yet, but he’s done Essex already so I think it’s only right that it’s my turn to move to Wales.

What do you think of Love Island this year?

Joey Essex walking in was pretty iconic, right? I don’t think anyone expected that!

Can you tell us any behind-the-scenes Love Island secrets?

If us girls wanted to have a private conversation, we’d go into the dressing room and take our bras off. We realised that they can’t use footage if you’re naked, so if you want a sneaky convo, get a boob out and you’re sorted!
