Real Housewives of New York alums Luann de Lesseps and Bethenny Frankel can agree on one thing: the RHONY reboot is not it.
Bethenny recently took to TikTok (twice, and then deleted both videos) to call the revamped RHONY a “piece of trash,” among other things – despite claiming that she hasn’t even watched it in its two seasons. Of course, the internet is forever, and others reposted B’s videos for posterity.
TMZ recently caught up with Luann – who has a historically capricious relationship with Bethenny. Apparently, the new RHONY must be the great equalizer, because Luann says she agrees with Bethenny’s assessment of the show with its new cast.
A TMZ reporter ambushed Lu on the sidewalk and asked her opinion on Bethenny’s latest rant fuel – the recast RHONY. When the interviewer mentioned that Bethenny wanted justice for the ladies of “the golden era” of the show, like Lu, Dorinda Medley, Sonja Morgan, and Ramona Singer, who were “kicked to the curb,” Lu cosigned.
Luann began, “It’s not wrong. It is not wrong. Listen, I-I for once, I agree with Bethenny. For once! I mean, life is a cabaret, isn’t it?” You have to love how Lu never misses an opportunity to quote herself.
Luann was also in agreement that Bethenny’s idea to “dust off the old girls” and mix them in with the new cast could help.
She answered, “You know, she’s not wrong, you know? But that’s not my decision, right?”
Though Lu never says never to an opportunity, jumping back into the mix would take a lot of thought. And cash.
Lu explained, “I don’t know. That’s a maybe for me. Really, I always say ‘maybe.’ I never say ‘yes,’ I never say no. ‘Cause guess what? ‘Maybe’ gives you time to think.”
What would it take to expedite her thought process? “A lot of money,” she laughed.
Good-natured as usual, Lu dismissed the idea that it would be offensive for Bravo to tag her back in, calling the network her “family” because she still does a lot of work for them since she’s a “team player.” She then, of course, plugged the upcoming show she’s starring in, Love Hotel. It’s set to premiere in the spring.
The RHONY ratings have plummeted from its heyday, so Bethenny isn’t alone in her assessment. However, it’s kind of nice to see her and Luann on the same page for once. “Two Housewives, both alike in dignity, in fair Manhattan, where we lay our scene. From ancient grudge break to new RHONY, where belligerent TikToks make them civilly agree.” Or, whatever Shakespeare said.
