Mackenzie McKee and fiancé Khesanio Hall will be adding two more daughters to their family this year, as the Teen Mom: The Next Chapter couple have learned that they are expecting twin girls. People was the first to report the news.
The magazine reports that Mackenzie and Khesanio announced the sex of their twins during a “Goals or Bows”-themed celebration, which was shown during teaser clips of the season finale during Thursday’s episode (to some viewers). The couple was joined by friends and family, including Mackenzie’s children: sons Gannon and Broncs, and daughter Jaxie, whom she shares with ex-husband, Josh McKee.
The sex of the couple’s twins were revealed at the party when Khesanio kicked two soccer balls filled with colorful smoke and both revealed pink smoke, indicating that there are two baby girls joining the family.
As The Ashley previously told you, Mackenzie announced in March on The Drew Barrymore Show that the IVF process she and Khesanio had been documenting both on and off of ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ had been successful, and that she was expecting twins.
Prior to her big announcement, Mackenzie had explained on an episode of ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ that there was a good possibility that she and Khesanio could end up having more than one baby, due to the IVF process and the fact that the couple chose to transfer two embryos. Mackenzie said she and Khesanio made this decision because there was an 80 precent chance that at least one of the embryos would be successful; however, she also noted that there was a 20 percent chance that both embryos would “stick” and that she and Khesanio would end up with twins, which is what ultimately happened.
Mackenzie, a Type 1 diabetic who has had high-risk pregnancies with her other children, also acknowledged during the episode that there was a two percent chance that both of the embryos would split, resulting in four babies.
Earlier this week, Mackenzie happily shared on Instagram that she was 28 weeks pregnant and officially in her third trimester. In a Q&A on Instagram last month, she told fans that she carried her first three children to “36-37 weeks only,” so her goal with this pregnancy is “32-34 weeks.”
“I’d love to try and make it past next month into June,” she wrote.
As for her health with this pregnancy, Mackenzie assured fans she has a “great diabetic care team” and that she and her twins were thriving. During her previous pregnancies, Mackenzie struggled to keep her diabetes under control, which resulted in her having very large babies. Gannon weighed 9 lbs., 7 oz. at birth, while Jaxie was over 8 lbs. Mack’s third child Broncs— who had serious health issues after birth— weighed in at a whopping 10 lbs., 1 oz.
“This pregnancy is unlike the last 3,” she wrote. “I have an insulin pump and Dexcom, along with a great diabetic care team. My sugars are not only great, but the babies are super healthy and growing perfectly.”
Mackenzie and Khesanio have not revealed what they plan to name their twins; however, Mackenzie told her dad on a recent episode that they would likely be selecting two names that begin with the letter “J” to continue with a tradition in Khesanio’s family.
New episodes of ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter’ air Thursdays on MTV.
