Magic 8 Ball predictions for the 2025 Philadelphia Eagles

At long last, the Magic 8 Ball is back. Last year, we used an online version of the classic toy to predict a bounceback season for Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts … and incorrectly denied Philly the NFC East. Let’s see how it does in 2025.

Will the Eagles repeat as Super Bowl champions?

Magic 8 Ball says: Better not tell you now.

That’s not good. Philadelphia currently has the best odds (+650) to win Super Bowl LX, but the Magic 8 Ball obviously knows something we don’t.

Maybe it’s worried about losing former offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who’s now head coach of the New Orleans Saints. Perhaps it’s concerned about the defensive line after losing Brandon Graham to retirement, Josh Sweat to the Arizona Cardinals and Milton Williams to the New England Patriots. No player appeared in more career games as an Eagle (218) than Graham and no free agent received more money (four years, $104M) than Williams.

Of course, only nine teams in NFL history have won back-to-back titles, so maybe it’s just playing the odds. Kansas City, the team Philadelphia beat to win Super Bowl LIX, accomplished the feat in 2024.

Does Saquon Barkley have anything left for 2025?

Magic 8 Ball says: You may rely on it.

What a relief for Eagles fans who fear the NFL’s leading rusher might struggle after handling a career-high 345 attempts last season. Barkley carried the team in 2024, rushing for 2005 yards in the regular season, 100 yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record set in 1984.

Prior to last season, Barkley missed 25 games in six years with the Giants, which makes last year’s effort even more remarkable. None of this is lost on the 28-year-old rusher, who’s vowed to be more cautious with offseason training.

"You've just got to be smarter, right? You have your moments where you go in there and you grind, you push it," Barkley told reporters during the team’s minicamp. "But the majority of those days is just mobility, conditioning, doing all the things to get your body in shape to perform at a high level. It was a lot of workload (last year), but my body feels great, so that's the most important thing."

Barkley also revealed Hall of Fame running backs Marshall Faulk and Edgerrin James told him to “sit his ass down for a little bit.” It doesn’t take a Magic 8 Ball to figure out what he’ll do.

Will the Chiefs have their revenge in Week 2?

Magic 8 Ball says: Signs point to yes.

Why the NFL chose not to open the 2025 season with this matchup is anyone’s guess, but one thing is certain, an angry Kansas City team will give Philadelphia everything it’s got at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 14.

The Eagles didn’t just beat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, they embarrassed them (40-22) in a game Kansas City was never really in.

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took a career-high six sacks and threw three interceptions against Philadelphia’s top-ranked defense that day, while the Eagles rushed for 86 more yards despite getting only 57 yards from Barkley.

Had the Chiefs won the game, they would have become the first team in NFL history to win three straight Super Bowls. That had to sting and could explain why FanDuel currently has Kansas City favored by 1.5 points.
