Major development: New York Rangers may have just found their solution to a serious problem

Bo Groulx

The New York Rangers could get a major facelift in the offseason, which could open up new opportunities in the fall. One player who could benefit is the Hartford Wolfpacks' Bo Groulx, who could find himself in a depth position on the Rangers.

The New York Rangers could look remarkably different in 2025. With Elliotte Friedman reporting that the GM Chris Drury isn't keeping any options off the table for the team's retool, or rebuild, it could open opportunities up for players we least expect.

That being the Wolfpack center Bo Groulx.

Groulx was originally selected 54th overall in 2018, and as a sizable center at 6'2", he found himself as a depth addition by the Rangers last summer.

Groulx seems like a special case, and considering he lacks the ability to produce points, scoring only 5 (1 goal, 4 assists) in 65 games with the Ducks, why would we write about him?

He seems like someone who would be a career AHLer, considering his lack of finishing ability. But he is someone who can impact a game, without producing a massive amount of points.

With the Hartford Wolf Pack in 2023-24, he tallied two assists in 45 games played. His best AHL season was in 2022-23 when he set career highs with 12 goals and 21 assists for 39 points in 64 games.

Groulx was originally called up during January, causing Brett Berard to be sent back down to the AHL.

He would spend a short period of time in the NHL before being sent back down. With Filip Chytil out, the Rangers needed some kind of depth in the lineup, which Groulx could deliver.

At the time of that transaction, Groulx had 11 goals and 18 assists on the season for a total of 29 points across 32 games of play. He ended the season with a line of 15-22-37 in 47 games played

Groulx has been performing fairly well in the AHL, and with the lack of center depth at the moment in New York, he could find himself called up again to the NHL.

And as a value option for the team could find himself re-signed very soon in July.
