In a surprising shake-up, NBC’s hit procedural Chicago P.D. is preparing to say goodbye to a key member of the Intelligence Unit ahead of its upcoming 13th season. Actress Toya Turner, who joined the show in Season 12 as Officer Kiana Cook, will not be returning for the fall 2025 season, marking an abrupt end to her short-lived but impactful role.

Turner took to Instagram to confirm the news, expressing gratitude for the opportunity and reflecting on her growth during her tenure:

“My time on Chicago P.D. has come to a close. This show challenged me, sharpened me, and revealed what I’m made of… I’m excited for the opportunities ahead. Next chapter,” she wrote.

Her goodbye resonated warmly with followers and co-stars, as she extended thanks to the show, its cast, crew, and the dedicated “ChiHards.”

Officer Cook was introduced in Season 12 as a former tactical team member who was later reassigned to patrol, eventually earning a spot in Voight’s Intelligence Unit. Despite her promising storyline and strong chemistry with the ensemble, her character will leave before Season 13 begins.

Reports from Deadline and TV Insider suggest the departure was part of a creative decision by the producers. The show is already casting a new female regular, described as an ATF Task Force officer with a military background and a “loose cannon” personality—a role expected to inject fresh energy into the unit.

As Chicago P.D. gears up for its return in fall 2025, questions loom over how Cook’s exit will be written into the storyline and who will step into her shoes. The Intelligence Unit remains intact with core cast members like Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), Burgess, Ruzek, Atwater, and Torres preparing to lead the charge once again.
