Matthew Knies is up to the same old shenanigans on his Instagram page.

After his teammate and good friend Joseph Woll signed a three-year, $10.98 million contract extension with the Leafs on Monday, the 21-year-old took to Instagram to celebrate. Knies posted to his Instagram Story a scene from the 2012 comedy movie ‘21 Jump Street’ of ‘Schmidt’ and ‘Jenko’ labeling the characters as ‘Kniesy and Bobby (McMann)’, jumping and hugging one another in celebration of complete jubilation.

If you can recall, he did something similar when the club signed Bobby McMann to a two-year, $2.7 million extension in March, that time in an Office-inspired post with ‘Woller’ playing as McMann that time around. The trio clearly have a tight bond with one another and one can expect when it’s Knies’ turn to get paid, the two will celebrate in similar fashion.

Woll wasn’t the only teammate he congratulated via Instagram, either. He also posted about the four-year, $15 million contract extension to forward Max Domi, saying “Banggggggg” through a story post on Sunday.

And between Domi and Woll, he chimed in on the two-year, $6 million contract extension to Swedish defenseman Timothy Liljegren, emphasizing his excitement through an emoji.

The Leafs did clean work on the opening day of free agency, stringing together deals for Chris Tanev, Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Anthony Stolarz, Matt Murray, and Jani Hakanpaa so far– in addition to the names listed earlier in the article. There is still a need to fill the holes upfront and general manager Brad Treliving would surely be looking to shore up the top six with the departure of Tyler Bertuzzi.
