On today’s Days of Our Lives, Tate pops into the Kiriakis mansion to greet an ecstatic Holly and offer a ride to school. But not without making a snide comment about Doug’s thievery. Holly tries defending Doug, but Tate keeps digging at it, not getting why she cares so much about defending this guy.
He feels bad, she says, and he’s a good guy! “The last thing he wanted to do is hurt Julie!” Oops. Tate demands to know what that means until she admits that Doug stole Julie’s necklace. Tate’s horrified, no matter how much Holly tries to equivocate Doug’s theft. And it gets worse when he finds out Julie doesn’t know Doug took the necklace.
Holly begs him not to say anything, and he agrees that this isn’t the time to upset Julie more. They get into a fight when Holly says Tate should understand after all the mistakes he’s made — like getting Sophia pregnant and giving the baby up for adoption!
That was the plan, but… Tate tells her about the family meeting disaster. “Great,” Holly’s disgusted. “So does that mean you’re going to have to raise the baby with Sophia now?” He doesn’t know, so she decides she’d rather take the bus.
Doug Gets a Lead On the Necklace
Doug knocks on Leo’s door asking for news on Julie’s necklace. Leo has some! The woman who bought it lives in Salem. But Leo doesn’t know anything else. Still, he’ll figure it out! Neither of them are the type to give up — which is Leo’s opening to suggest that Doug might want to call it quits when it comes to Holly.

He fills Doug in on the “Holly and Tate, Tate and Holly,” lore and all they’ve been through to be together. Doug admits he likes Holly, but he’s not going to do anything. That’s a good idea, Leo tells him, turning the conversation back to himself and talking vaguely about his experience with Sonny and Will.
Then Leo conveniently gets a text from his fence, who tracked down the woman who bought the necklace. And she’s willing to meet.
Marlena and Steve Are Determined to Find John
Marlena’s on the phone trying to get through to Shane. Again. And her patience is running thin on getting the runaround. Steve pops in saying he just heard that John’s missing. Marlena tells him John’s handler lost contact with him more than a day ago. “Shane won’t return my call. That’s a bad sign, isn’t it?”

Steve tries to reassure her, but sitting around letting the ISA stonewall them isn’t good enough for Marlena. John needs her. When Steve says her husband can handler herself, Marlena just says, “Yeah. So can I.” She’s going to go find him. And she’ll start with confronting Shane in DC, and Steve’s not going to stop her. Period.
OK, he won’t. He’ll go with her. “John is my partner. We always have each other’s backs.” Marlena’s visibly touched and hugs him, fighting back tears.
Brady and Ava Talk Things Out
Brady, meanwhile, checks in with Paul to see if Andrew got any news from the ISA. He hangs up when Ava shows up at his doorstep looking to talk. She apologizes for hanging up on him, but… does he really think CPS would take Rachel if Kristen got in trouble? Yup. OK, then Ava will do what she has to to help Brady.
They’re both ticked Kristen will get off without getting in trouble, but at least the whole thing is over, Brady says. Eh… not really, Ava points out, if Rachel’s determined to keep her and Brady apart. Brady insists his daughter is making progress in therapy. “What about the other Rachel?”
Brady shrugs off the “frail old woman,” but Ava says she’s a whole lot scarier and dangerous than she seems.
Brady doesn’t want to hear any of it. He just wants needs to be with Ava. Especially with his father missing. Tate doesn’t know yet, and won’t until they know more. The not knowing is tearing Brady apart, though.
Ava says to let her know if she can do anything, and Brady asks her not to give up on them. (Which seems kind of emotionally manipulative…) Ava just leans forward and kisses him after sighing.
Kristen Brings Rachel Blake Home
Kristen’s in the Salem police station, filling her brother in on where their mom is. As soon as Melinda walks in — alone — Kristen gets off the phone demanding to know where her mom is. “There’s been a bit of a problem.” Kristen’s mom got into a fight. She bit another inmate who called her a name.
She’s still getting out, but it slowed things down a bit. Melinda, though, cautions Kristen that her mom’s “unstable,” so she might want to be careful. Kristen’s responsible for Rachel now, and this is negative publicity the CEO of DiMera doesn’t need.
An officer walks Rachel in and mother and daughter happily greet each other and head home to get a hot bath and poached eggs. Rachel, though, is clearly unstable, way too happy about her little biting incident.

They head home, where Rachel notes that the house got a makeover — but Stefano’s still looming over the fireplace. Kristen sits her mom down gently for a talk. She and Brady won’t get back together, so Rachel needs to stop plotting. She’s CEO of DiMera and she can’t keep “running around, putting out fires.”
Rachel promises Kristen she’ll behave. She just wants to reconnect with her daughter and granddaughter. Kristen’s excited to have all three generations of Blake women together, but when she hugs Rachel, thanking her for respecting her wishes, mommie dearest just looks mischievous.
Melinda Bought the Necklace??
In the show’s final moments, Marlena’s going to rearrange her patients schedule and Steve heads out to let Kayla know and pack. He promises they’ll get answers. Marlena picks up John’s picture and tells him she’s coming for him.
Doug runs into Holly doing homework in the square. She’s skipping school after her and Tate’s fight. The adoption’s gotten so screwed up. Doug’s got good news, though — the woman who bought Julie’s necklace is meeting him, but he doesn’t know who she is. Melinda strides over, gleefully wearing the necklace. “That would be me!”
Kristen checks in with Peter again, who wants to talk to their mom. But when Kristen goes to find her, she’s missing. Turns out, she’s hiding in Ava’s room, waiting for her return. “Hello, Ava.”
Tate rushes home, demanding to know why Brady didn’t tell him what was going on. Uncle Andrew just filled him in on grandpa. Brady assures his son that everyone’s on the case and they’ll get through it as a family. Theresa walks in out of nowhere. “Does that include me?”As John’s farewell storyline kicks off, take a look at our photo gallery below of how it will change life for virtually everyone in Salem.
