RIP John Black.
John Black is gone. In the tough, emotional, and utterly heartbreaking June 2 episode of Days of Our Lives, a suffering John succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, Bo returned to Hope and his family.
Goodbye, John Black
A lot of times, a person’s health takes a turn for the better right before the end. That’s what happened to John. He was breathing fine, talking when he could, and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) had high hopes that John would fully recover. Unfortunately, John’s health didn’t remain stable for long. Suddenly, his health took a turn, forcing Marlena (Deidre Hall) to give the love of her life permission to go.
The entire episode featured more flashbacks. Marlena remembered her husband’s many identities (even when they thought he was Stefano) and little Belle and Brady. Steve (Stephen Nichols) reflected on the beginnings of the Black Patch Detective Agency. There was also the memory of John and Marlena on the hospital roof when Marlena was dying.
But soon, John’s breathing grew heavy and labored. After Marlena gave him permission to rest, John did just that. And it felt like the end of an era. John was a hero who always struggled with who he was, but it’s what he became that was so much better. He loved doing good, he worshipped his family, and he made them his priority. He was such a good guy. And now John is no longer suffering. He’s resting in peace.

Hello, Bo Brady
Meanwhile, wherever this facility was, Bo (Peter Reckell) lay in his hospital bed, but there seemed to be signs that he was coming out of the coma. Hope (Kristian Alfonso), Ciara (Victoria Konefal), and Shawn (Brandon Beemer) shared their memories of their husband and father. And a number of Bo-related flashbacks played out.

But Bo was going through a life-or-death choice. Again, he ended up at the Brady Pub, where he was reunited with his late son, Zack (Brandon Butler). Zack was happy to see his father, but he didn’t want Bo to get too comfortable because it wasn’t his time. He felt that Bo needed to get back to Hope, Ciara, and Shawn.
But Bo wasn’t so sure. He liked being there with his son and didn’t want to let him down again. The show’s way of letting us know that Bo was becoming more and more in touch with life was nice. All of a sudden, Hope, Shawn, and Ciara showed up at the pub, where they were also reunited with Zack.

Bo told his family he had been fighting for two years. He didn’t know what else he could do to return to them. Hope asked him to fight some more and do whatever he could to wake up. And that’s what he ultimately did. The first thing he saw when he woke up was his Fancy Face’s, well, face.
