Marvel’s Thunderbolts* Trailer Leaks Online: David Harbour Owes Someone $10

Almost three weeks after Marvel Studios' Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the Thunderbolts* movie trailer that screened for those in attendance has leaked online. Announced by Marvel at SDCC 2022, the Thunderbolts* cast of characters assembles a team of anti-heroes from around the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Florence Pugh's Yelena Belova, David Harbour's Red Guardian and Sebastian Stan's Bucky Barnes. Since the Thunderbolts* release date isn't set until May 2025, it's a bit early for Marvel to release a trailer, but the one screened at SDCC this year has made its way online.

Forbes reports that the Thunderbolts* trailer has been posted to social media and is being shared around. The video is low-quality, with the recording having been taken on a phone camera. As of publication, it has not yet been taken down by X (formerly Twitter) at the request of Marvel Studios' parent company, Disney.

The leak follows both Harbour and Pugh making jokes at SDCC, saying the former will give someone $10 if they leak the Thunderbolts* trailer online. After the leak began making the rounds on social media, some joked that Harbour now owes someone $10. The exact source of the leak is unknown at this time. Neither Marvel nor Disney have commented on the leak.

The MCU Has Been Plagued By Leaks Lately

Thunderbolts* Is Just One Marvel Project Affected

The resistance team in Deadpool & Wolverine

Marvel's latest release, Deadpool & Wolverine, has quickly become the biggest movie of the year, but in the weeks since the film hit theaters, there has been a massive spread of pirated footage and images online. These have largely consisted of the cameos in Deadpool & Wolverine, which have been one of the biggest talking points among audiences, and are undeniably a contributing factor in the movie's success. As of last week, official stills and footage from Deadpool & Wolverine began to be released, which has stemmed the tide of unofficial bootlegs.

Beyond Deadpool & Wolverine, there have been leaks from Marvel's panels at both SDCC and this past weekend's D23. The Thunderbolts* trailer is just one of a few that Marvel screened at these events, but it isn't the only thing to have made its way online from the panels. A first look at Marvel's Fantastic Four costumes was revealed at D23, and circulated widely online - as did a better look at Harrison Ford's Red Hulk in Captain America: Brave New World footage.

Though the Deadpool & Wolverine leaks seemingly haven't affected the movie's theatrical release, and certainly haven't stopped it from earning $1 billion at the box office, it's unclear how the other leaks will affect their respective projects. Unlike the Deadpool & Wolverine cameos, the other leaks aren't major spoilers for the upcoming MCU movies, they're part of promotional material that will eventually be released officially by Marvel. For those eager to see the Thunderbolts* trailer, hopefully Marvel debuts it soon, but with the release date still more than nine months out, the studio may wait a little while.
